Brave face with freckles dotted across her nose
Shiny black hair that reaches her shoulders
Thick dark eyebrows
Wide nose
Tall with broad shoulders
Muscles as big as boulders
Long neck with a pearl necklace
A clean white blouse with fastened black buttons
Neatly sewed bright yellow scarf wrapped around her
A black straight pencil skirt with stitched pearly white swirls near the bottom
Yellow platform heels with shoelaces tied in a bow
Ms. Moamin
So kind, so sweet
Sings a lullaby to heal our booboos
or to stretch a wide smile across our precious faces
Never yells or gives the angry teacher stare
Though today someone pointed out a tear that streamed down her face
Everyone stared and asked, “are you okay?”
We tried to comfort her
Finally she stood up and told us to sit our bottoms back down
Her voice was weak, but she strongly said, “I am fine, no need to worry about me.”
We all chanted, “why are you crying then, do you not like our behavior, did you forget to pack a milkshake in your lunch?”
“No, no” she said laughingly
“It's just I divorced my husband
That is why I am sobbing
I am sorry that I am holding up class
And you all really shouldn't be knowing my personal life”
She said with a half grin including a stern face and some nervous giggles
“Now let's get back to class kids. No more talking, we have to finish our multiplication unit.”
Then she wiped her tears with a tissue from her desk
We all sweetly sang, “Hope you feel better.”
Suddenly, she turns around quickly and adds,
“Call me Ms. Moamin now, no more Mrs. Pedowrellen”
Cheers and claps rushed in after that quick announcement
Because we all had trouble pronouncing and spelling
Mrs. Pedowrellen!
