The Lady Drakes is an organization meant to benefit all the girl’s sports teams in Jenkintown. If you go to their Facebook page, the profile picture is of lacrosse players, and every post is about Field Hockey, Basketball, and Lacrosse. There were jackets donated to the Lady Drakes, and the Field Hockey team and Lacrosse team wear them proudly. Three sports. Let me do some math for you.
When Harley Maile, a former graduate of Jenkintown, beat the girl’s record in bowling, she received no recognition from the Lady Drakes. But they asked for as many people to be at a basketball game for Emma Dorshimer because she was about to break the record for highest point scorer in basketball. Is that fair?
Harlane Burns and Gabrielle Jackmon went to districts last year for Track and Field, but did you know that? Did the Lady Drakes say they were so proud of these girls, both freshman, already making a mark on the track and field team? No. But when the field hockey team gets recognition for 1st team and 2nd team, the Lady Drakes HAVE to post about it, even if the team didn’t make it anywhere.
Caroline Arena and Emma Pizer finished second and third in the Bicentennial League Championship. Did you know that? Was that posted on the Lady Drakes Facebook Page? If you want to look and see, don’t waste your time. They were not mentioned on the Facebook page. These two girls are FRESHMEN (bold) and they got no recognition from the Lady Drakes. Second and third as freshman. I’m impressed. That deserves recognition, great job girls!
Cassie Lynch, a FRESHMAN (bold), got second place in the BAL Championship for bowling, but I don’t see that on the Lady Drakes page. Where is the “recognition of outstanding female student athletes”? I see none of these names mentioned except the ones on the Field Hockey, Basketball, and Lacrosse team. Freshmen made a huge impact on Jenkintown this year, and I am very impressed, and I am very sorry that you received no recognition for this hard work.
Where is the “recognition of outstanding female student athletes” for the students who go to districts or break records in sports other than Field Hockey, Basketball, and Lacrosse? You won’t find it from the Lady Drakes because they don’t actually care about the other sports and the girls on the teams that achieve something on them.
So while you eat all your pancakes and sausages at the Pancake Breakfast, thanks for supporting only 37.5% of the female student athlete teams; even though it is supposed to support 100% of the them.
