the difference between life and loss
a card game
On one side sits the Trickster
they are the one who studies the game
many opponents they have seen
but the thrill of the draw just isn’t there
their future has become a pastime
a card game
On the other sits the Vagabond
they were surely destined for better
nowhere to run, true
but nobody to run from
just a way to pass the time
a card game
This weary exchange means
nothing
to them,
just a card game
It’s surely not worth recounting
Does it really matter
what lies printed
on the other side of the card?
Not when neither wishes it.
How about this:
they just sit
stalemated
for as long as the card stays.
maybe
It’s meant to be that way.
