A Day
The sun opens the sky each morning
and yet my eyes cannot
adjust to the light,
Trying to cover myself, avoid the brightness
yet,
you call me beautiful.
I am able (with your companionship) to greet the day
yet, brightness
engulfs and hurts.
I think it may be easier to hide under
the covers of sadness (go away sun).
You calm me and call me
beautiful, wise;
wife, mother (all I ever longed for).
I watch the sun begin to close
as you prepare a table full
of heart
as the children smile,
the puppy wags its tail,
a family loves.
I smile, I uncover, I open.
As the sun falls to a final fading thought,
my thought becomes, as I feel your companionship
I have true love and for that
Gratitude.
